Firms 'unaware' of eco switch benefits

One analyst has spoken of the importance of adopting an eco-friendly approach to business, urging executives to lead by example.

Some organisations are still unaware of the importance of taking a green approach to IT and do not realise there are a number of eco-friendly services they can use to bring down their carbon footprint.

This is the view of Phil Carter, Asia-Pacific research director for analysis firm IDC, who told ARN some firms still see the concept as being "more for the tree huggers".

Companies that have realised the benefits of adopting a sustainable approach and are looking to reduce their impact on the environment may wish to consider switching to a sustainable printing company that gets its paper from sustainable sources.

Mr Carter urged executives to lead by example when making the switch to a green approach, as without their support "it really is a challenge for organisations to execute any kind of green IT policy".

Enterprises may also want to introduce environmentally-friendly printing products to their office, such as the new Panda Print material from Drytac Europe, which, according to printweek.com, is made from natural bamboo fibre.
