Cheap flyers may be one marketing outlet the Metro newspaper wishes to consider following news it is to ramp up its entertainment section in a bid to become a market leader in this arena.
Marketing Week reports the free national daily will be making gradual changes to the layout and content of its entertainment pages online and in print from the end of March.
It will also focus on social media and user-generated content to boost readership.
Steve Auckland, managing director of the newspaper, said it has chosen to develop its showbiz division because this fits in with the publication's website development.
"We don’t feel there is any main competition for what we are trying to achieve," he commented.
Another company launching a new promotional initiative is Clarks, which is planning to emphasis its Originals shoes' connection to the music scene in a new campaign, as reported by Marketing Week.
