Leaflet printing used to promote public transport safety

Tower Hamlets police have used leaflet printing to help raise awareness of safety issues on public transport.

Officers distributed leaflets to commuters yesterday (December 8th) as part of Operation Fusion, visiting underground stations at Aldgate East, Canary Wharf and Mile End, the East London Advertiser reports.

The materials aimed to inform passengers about personal safety while travelling and plain-clothed police officers also targeted fare dodgers in the campaign.

Inspector Myles Allen of the Safer Transport Team, based in Bow, said: "This was an important day as police and our partners committed a lot of resources to make this operation worthwhile."

He added the force's three aims were "reassurance, engagement and enforcement" and he believes these were all achieved.

Leaflet printing was also used by Leeds City Council recently to encourage people to visit Yeadon's recently-refurbished town centre and boost trade for local retailers, according to the Wharfedale and Airedale Observer.
