Business cards and other promotional items are a key part of
networking successfully, one expert has suggested.
Speaking to the Financial Post, image service expert Lynne
MacKay explained the items - which can be purchased from business
card printers - are especially useful for entrepreneurs at industry
events.
However, she noted there is an etiquette that must be followed
with regards to the items, stating: "Never pass your card at the
dinner table."
She also urged those looking to expand their company to not
"hand out [their] business card off the bat".
"The goal is not to give your card; it's to get cards," Ms
MacKay remarked, adding the best approach is for individuals to ask
for one following a conversation and then offer theirs in
return.
An increasing number of people may soon be seeking the services
of business card printers, as recent research conducted for Hiscox
revealed 23 per cent of students are either already running their
own firm or considering setting one up.
